Fernbrooke State School opened for the commencement of the 2017 school year. Located in southern Redbank Plains, the school was established to prepare for a massive residential area to be built. With the existing Redbank Plains State School reaching capacity, the intent of the new school was to relieve pressure on the infrastructure requirements of the already established school.
Prior to the opening of the school, the Principal was fortunate to be able to spend six months working within the community to establish the school name, vision and values and to truly set up the school to reflect the community requirements and expectations. Speaking with parents at community events, discussing the knowledge and schooling experiences that they were bringing into our new community helped shape the expectation of the school. This expectation has expanded into the organisational structure, policy and procedures of the school.
